2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet 997.2

The facelifted 997 was a massive jump forward for a mid-life 911 update. Most notably, Porsche introduced its first road-going PDK Twin-clutch seven-speed gearbox, along with direct injection releasing more power from the naturally aspirated flat six whilst offering better fuel economy. 

The Carrera 4S received a larger 3.8 litre version of the new flat-six, with power raised to 385bhp, pushing top speed to 300km/h. 0-100km in 4.7 seconds is quick enough to feel the wind in your hair the moment you have the urge. 

With the C4S getting Porsche’s Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, with the press of a button you can change the character of this car from boulevard cruiser to all out sports car, as it firms up the suspension damping noticeably, and recalibrates the PDK response. It’s a joy to wind out one of Porsche’s great engines to its 7,500rpm redline, enjoying the extra sound from the rear when the roof is down. 

With the 911 becoming bigger and heavier with each new generation, enthusiasts and collectors are looking to older models to find the best balance between comfort and driver interaction.
