The 80s are calling!

In the late Seventies and early Eighties, Porsche was convinced that their luxurious new flagship, the front-engined, V8, 928 would replace the aging 911, but buyers were having none of it. The defiant rear-engined 911 simply refused to die, and soon, everyone’s favourite practical sports car was outselling the 928 by a factor of twenty-to-one.

As such, Porsche continued to develop the 911 throughout the decade - the SC became the Carrera, culminating in the final 3.2 Carrera as we have here. With the car’s popularity increasing, Porsche was operating in a class of its own with the powerful and torquey 911 offering reliability and practicality too.

The all-alloy, air-cooled 3.2 litre flat six put out a healthy 231bhp, along with a punchy 285Nm of torque and by 1989, the Carrera was using the much improved G50 Gearbox.

As Porsche stated in their 1989 ad campaign - “Today, nothing looks, lasts or performs like a 911, because nothing is built like one. Precision engineered and almost entirely assembled by hand, the 911 takes five times as long as a conventional vehicle to construct.

With 911s continuing to appeal to collectors of all ages, these Impact-Bumper cars are starting to rise in popularity, and while it was built in greater numbers than any 911 before it, finding a mint-condition, original, Australian-delivered car is becoming increasingly difficult.

This 1989 Carrera in Gran Prix White, with colour-matched Fuchs forged 16” wheels and a Linen ‘Soft Look’ Leather Interior, is a stunning example of what results from caring long-term, single-family ownership.

Specced from new in this gloriously period-perfect colour combination, with options including Cruise Control, Air Conditioning, Central Locking and the 8-speaker High Fidelity Audio Package, this was a car loved by its owner, and it shows.

Serviced regularly with over thirty stamps in the book, this 911 is ready to continue its life as a loved addition to the family.

With some recent work to make sure all electrics are working as they should, this is a solid investment-grade car to be reliably enjoyed with no niggles or issues.

The underside has been completely dry-ice blasted - at significant cost - along with a full interior and exterior detail, and the car now presents like a time capsule from another era.

If you are looking for a classic 911 to invest in which you can also enjoy driving, and be transported to a simpler and more optimistic time, this is that car.
