Built in extraordinarily limited numbers by the famously discreet Bristol Cars, the range marked a shift toward more usable grand touring, combining understated British craftsmanship with unapologetically muscular American V8 power.

By 1987, the Britannia had evolved into a refined, long-legged GT effortless at speed, quietly rapid, and engineered with a level of eccentricity that only Bristol could justify.

Under the bonnet sits a 5.9-litre Chrysler-derived V8, paired with a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, delivering smooth, unhurried performance with a surprising turn of pace when required.

Ownership, of course, comes with entry into one of the most exclusive corners of the classic car world. Bristol didn’t advertise and didn’t chase volume. As a result, cars like this remain rare, intriguing, and just a little bit mysterious.

Finished in a classic Dark Green over Beige colour combination, this example is what is known to be just one of 32 Britannia cars ever produced. But due to very little archive documentation it is difficult to exact these figures.

This car arrived on Australian shores in 2002 having been privately imported by a local enthusiast chasing one of these rare British brutes having been searching high and low for a exquisite example.

With little documented history from its time in the UK aside from an export approval form and a few MOTs, it is known the vehicle passed through two owners located in London before being exported, it's now thick history file today reads plenty of extensive maintenance work in Australia and documents all ownerships locally including its current.

The interior is a masterclass in traditional craftsmanship, with rich wood veneers, soft leather, and an ergonomically creative layout that rewards familiarity and had seen some refurbishment in 2007, along with major mechanical items such as overhaul of brakes and cooling systems.

In 2019 the engine was removed and dismantled, the heads were removed for reconditioning, the timing chain and gears were replaced as well as the hydraulic lifters, gaskets, and seals. During this time the radiator was also reconditioned, air-conditioning re-gassed, engine mounts fitted and a set of new spark plugs were fitted.

In June 2026, local marque specialists carried out a pre-sale service including oil, filter and brake fluid change as well as a new set of premium tires.

On the road, the Britannia delivers a driving experience unlike anything contemporary. It’s not about outright aggression it’s about effortless momentum. The V8 provides a deep well of torque, the ride is composed and the whole car feels engineered for covering serious distance without fuss or fatigue. It’s quick, but more importantly, it’s unflustered.

For those who prefer their grand tourers with character, craftsmanship, and a healthy disregard for convention, the Bristol Britannia delivers in a way very few cars can.
