1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SE

Introduced in 1965, the Mercedes-Benz 250SE was part of Mercedes-Benz’s all-new W108 range, replacing the earlier “tailfin” sedans with a more restrained and modern design. It marked a shift toward the clean, timeless styling language the brand would carry forward for decades, while also improving ride, handling, and overall refinement. 

As a fuel-injected variant, the 250SE sat toward the upper end of the range, offering a balance of performance and comfort in a well-engineered executive sedan.

At its core is a 2.5-litre inline six-cylinder engine equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, producing approximately 150 horsepower. Power delivery is smooth and progressive, paired with a driving experience that prioritises composure over urgency. 

Independent suspension all round, strong braking performance for the period, and the typically solid Mercedes-Benz build quality make it a capable long-distance car even by modern standards.

Inside, the W108 is defined by its simplicity and durability. A spacious glasshouse provides excellent visibility, while details such as timber trim, chrome switchgear, and the classic instrument layout reflect the quality expected of the marque. The design is functional without feeling sparse, and everything is built with longevity in mind.

This beautifully restored 1967 Mercedes Benz 250SE finished in Leicht Blau with a Weiss roof over Blau interior and was Australian delivered new through Aust-Star Motors in Brisbane. 

Restored from the ground up between the late 1990s and early 2000s it is offered with an extensive history file, including a comprehensive, step-by-step record of its restoration. 

On the road, it presents as a genuine useable classic, easy to drive, with power steering and properly functioning, cold air conditioning. A well-sorted example that retains its original character while offering the usability needed to be enjoyed regularly.
