1953 Jaguar C Type Recreation

Originally developed by Jaguar in the early 1950s as a purpose-built competition machine, the C-Type combined stunning Malcolm Sayer–influenced aerodynamics with lightweight construction and the now-famous XK engine. The result was not only one of the most beautiful racing cars ever made, but also one of the most successful, securing Le Mans victories in 1951 and again in 1953. 

Originals today are firmly in “museum curator and international collector” territory which is precisely why properly executed recreations like this exist.

Finished in the only colour that truly suits such a machine, British Racing Green, this superb 1953 Jaguar C-Type recreation was built by the best-in-the-biz Concours Sportscar Restorations as car number 6 from their series and finished in 2015. Constructed using a Jaguar Mark VII chassis as its foundation, the build captures the proportions, drama and character of the original C-Type while remaining usable for the sort of driving that would make a genuine one’s insurance broker faint.

The bodywork delivers all the right theatre; that impossibly long bonnet, sweeping front wings and purposeful open cockpit that practically demands goggles and at least one unnecessary blast through a country tunnel.
